This is The Ultimate Adventure. Visitors wishing to get a real feeling for surroundings, the peoples and their culture. It is truly a thrill to be biking along and have a view of a herd of Giraffe, Zebra or gazelle pass in front of you. This kind of a trip offers a unique opportunity to those who wish to see Africa from more than a bus window or a lodge balcony. It is a once in a lifetime opportunity.

The fist day would be from Nairobi after breakfast. Depart from a Nairobi hotel for a scenic drive through the Great North road to Lake Naivasha. Stop en-route at the view points of the Great Rift Valley for stunning views arriving Naivasha Hell gate National park by mid-morning for cycling in the park. During the cycling tour you will be able to observe over 450 species of birds which have been recorded here. Dinner and overnight stay at a Naivasha hotel.

The second day would be a similar cycling experience but now in a more country side setting. This would involve a cycling from Naivasha to Nakuru Menegai crater but first with a one hour drive. It would be that, in the morning, leave Naivasha and head for Nakuru; this would be a drive, latter to Menegai crater by bicycles and explore the colorful town. Ride to the ridge of Menegai Crater to take in panoramic views of Nakuru region. You will then have a chance to interact with the locals as you ride in the vicinity of their homesteads. Dinner and Overnight at a Nakuru Hotel.

The third day would be a 3hrs drive to Nanyuki after an early morning breakfast via Nyahururu, Aberdare and latter to Mount Kenya region where you will spend the night at a base camp in the foothills of mounts Kenya. In the evening you will certainly have a riding session in the forest to try out the terrain.

The final and the last day would be a cycling competition in the mountain and latter a 3 hours drive to Nairobi. The day’s itinerary would look like; Early in the morning take your bikes and head to Mount Kenya national park where you would enjoy a ride up to 3300M. On arrival at 3300m that is at old Moses Camp you will have a snack for lunch and latter cycle down to the park gate where you will be received by a vehicle for a drive back to Nairobi arriving in the early afternoon and checking in a hotel for that needed rest.

The best thing about this king of tour is that I entail all meals, bikes, transport, park fee, accommodation and a professional cycling/ornithological guide. It is also a very good eco tourism safari and the ecological disturbance is minimized and the tourism benefits are felt by the locals who own the bikes and the ones who perform the role of a guide. But for quality assurance they must be trained and certified by the ministry of tourism here in Kenya. Another advantage is that, A guide will lead the way and a bicycle mechanic rides at the rear to attend to any punctures etc and a back-up vehicle all combine to give you peace of mind and allow you to enjoy the trip to the fullest. It offers an opportunity to get off the beaten track onto remote and little used dirt roads as much as possible.

Some of the time the safari uses paved roads and also at times single track, the later with not too much technical difficulty. There is sometimes the opportunity for getting off the main tracks and onto some more serious off road biking. Water is always at hand. Being a biking safari one may have a break from the saddle. The only disadvantage of this king of wilderness enjoyment is that, a reasonable standard of fitness is required to makes your trip more enjoyable.
