The Tennessee Office of Transportation has had a upkeep crew in Liberty this week doing work to make improvements to the cross-slope of Freeway 70 where so lots of wrecks have happened in modern decades including a number of lethal crashes thanks to hydroplaning.
19 12 months aged Savannah Buckley of Cookeville dropped her lifetime in a crash there Monday, May possibly 3.
Right after studying of Buckley’s dying, State Agent Terri Lynn Weaver last week contacted the Tennessee Section of Transportation urging the commissioner to have TDOT resolve the drainage dilemma immediately in the “kill zone” on Highway 70 at Liberty. TDOT crews arrived on the scene within times.
WJLE reached out to TDOT Thursday for a remark on the scope of the get the job done remaining finished there.
“TDOT Upkeep is milling and repaving this area to try to boost the cross-slope of the roadway at this site to far better drain drinking water off the journey lanes through significant rains,” reported Jennifer Flynn, TDOT Region 2 Group Relations Officer.
“This area is in a transitional area toward the beginning/stop of the curve, so the cross slope is flatter (not as steep) than other sections of the roadway. We are going to create up and steepen the slope throughout the road to greater drive water off the driving lanes to the shoulder and into curb and gutter so that the catchbasins/drainage process can take it absent,” stated Flynn.
