Mishaps:

UPDATE: The Iowa State Patrol is reporting various serious and small injuries soon after a multi-vehicle pileup involving about 40 cars on I-80 around Newton. Condition Patrol says several squad cars have been included, but no troopers were injured. Eastbound I-80 concerning Colfax and Newton remains closed at this time.


Southbound I-380 close to Robins is blocked owing to a crash. Motorists are questioned to exit at Exit 28 to get again on I-380 southbound.


The northbound and southbound lanes of I-380 near North Liberty are blocked owing to two separate crashes. As of 7:35 p.m. the roadway has reopened in both of those directions.


The Westbound still left shoulder of Hwy 100 in close proximity to Cedar Rapids is blocked owing to a multi-vehicle incident. As of 8:00 p.m. the roadway appears to have reopened in accordance to the Iowa DOT’s map.


Northbound IA 14 around Hwy 20 north of Grundy Heart is blocked due to the fact of crisis motor vehicles. As of 6:34 p.m. the roadway has reopened.


Northbound US 151 from County Street F12 to County Highway E66 in the vicinity of Walford, which is southwest of Cedar Rapids, is blocked due to a crash. As of 8:00 p.m. the roadway seems to have reopened according to the Iowa DOT’s map.


Northbound Freeway 218 south of Iowa Metropolis is blocked owing to a crash. As of 3:10 p.m. the roadway has reopened.


Eastbound US-30 west of Cedar Rapids is blocked thanks to a multi-auto incident. As of 7:45 p.m. the eastbound lanes have reopened, but the westbound lanes keep on being shut.


There is a crash on northbound I-380 in the vicinity of Urbana. The road is blocked from 35 -County Road to Exit 41 – 54th Road Trail. As of 8:00 p.m. the roadway seems to have reopened in accordance to the Iowa DOT’s map.


Westbound I-80 close to West Department is shut owing to a multi-car or truck crash. As of 3:02 p.m. the roadway has reopened.


Hwy 20, equally east & westbound lanes are shutdown at the Wellsburg exit owing to a pileup. Hwy 20 westbound is shut at Hwy 14. Automobiles are allowed on Hwy 20 at 14, but can only travel East. As of 7:38 p.m. the roadway has reopened.

UPDATE: 1 person has died adhering to a multi-auto pileup on Highway 20 in Grundy County, according to Grundy County Sheriff Kirk Dolleslager.

According to the Iowa State Patrol crash report, a few other persons were being hurt in the crash. The extent of their accidents is mysterious. Condition Patrol suggests 8 semis and 4 other cars were concerned in the pileup.
