Liberty man receives probation for charge involving Mexican restaurant

LAWRENCEBURG, Ind. — A Liberty guy is between 7 folks who have settled legal situations similar to Mexican places to eat in 5 southeast Indiana counties.

Jose Leon, 44, pleaded guilty to misdemeanor failure to maintain records, and his plea settlement dismissed 17 rates towards him. He was sentenced in Dearborn County’s Circuit Court to just one year of incarceration with all time suspended to probation. 

Leon was among 11 people billed soon after a four-yr, Indiana State Excise Police investigation. Investigators alleged that the places to eat owed nearly $700,000 soon after scheming to underpay their gross sales and money taxes. The restaurants also are accused of illegally utilizing individuals ineligible to perform in the United States.
