Family Vacation at Barcelo Bavaro Beach Resort

Families that are looking to get away for a fun-filled family vacation in the Caribbean will find that the Barceló Bávaro Beach Resort; a 5-star, all-inclusive resort has a wide range of facilities and services for the whole family.

The resort is located directly on Bávaro Beach, which is one of the best beaches in the Dominican Republic and in 2012 received the Blue Flag to prove it.

Families that travel together and want to stay together can easily do so at the Barceló Bávaro Palace Deluxe, one of the two hotels inside the resort.

Special family room categories have been created for exactly this purpose; Family Deluxe Rooms with two bedrooms and one bathroom, Family Duplex in two levels with two bedrooms and two bathrooms and Family Junior Suites with two bedrooms and two bathrooms. All room categories are equipped with the latest amenities and stylish décor.

For daytime activities there are many options to choose from. Obviously, there is the beach and the four swimming pools, which include pools for children, pools for adults and a semi-Olympic pool. Several types of watersports activities, e.g. snorkeling, scuba diving, wind surfing, etc., are offered as well, with or without additional charges.

The Barceló Bávaro Palace Deluxe also has a water park for children with play castles, slides and waterfalls in the pool. For an additional charge, families can enjoy the Pirates’ Island Water Park with wave pool.

For children ages 2 – 12, the hotel has a Mini Club, which is open from 9 am until midnight and teenagers ages 13 to 17 can party at the hotel’s Xone Disco, which responsibly serves non-alcoholic beverages (drinking age in the Dominican Republic is 18 years old).

For the athletic families, there are various different sports activities available inside the resort, including tennis, soccer, volleyball, baseball and basketball. The resort also has an 18-hole P. D. Dye golf course (Barceló The Lakes), and guests have a certain number of rounds included in their stay depending on their room category (mandatory golf cart is not included).

Food-wise, the resort offers many different choices. There are several buffet restaurants, which are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and with plenty of choices for adults and children alike. The dress code for the buffet restaurants is typically casual as opposed to the a la carte restaurant that requires guests to be more formally dressed.

Other restaurants include seafood, steakhouse, Italian, Mexican, Japanese, Spanish, French ($), The 19th Hole at the golf club house, a sports bar and a wine cellar with dining room ($). Several bars are available and located throughout the resort. The beauty of the all-inclusive concept allows guests to eat and drink throughout the entire day without having to sign a bill for the consumption or worry about paying for each meal. Food and beverages are already included in the room price. Some restaurants and beverages (e.g. bottles of wine from a wine list) are not included in the all-inclusive meal plan and do require additional payment.

After a nice dinner, there might be time to enjoy the special children’s show performed at 8 pm at the theatre, before bedtime.
