Elderly lady dead right after strike by pickup truck in Halifax County Wednesday, State Police say
HALIFAX COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — An elderly Halifax County female is lifeless after getting hit by a pickup truck along Reduced Liberty Highway Wednesday early morning.
According to Virginia State Law enforcement, the deadly pedestrian crash took place just ahead of 6:45 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 6, in the 3000 block of Reduce Liberty Street.
Law enforcement say a northbound vehicle experienced stopped in the vacation lane on Lessen Liberty Highway for a pedestrian’s doggy in the street.
Even so, a 1996 Toyota Tacoma heading south on Decrease Liberty Street arrived through a curve, was not able to steer clear of hitting the pedestrian in the southbound travel lane, and then ran off the appropriate aspect of the road, officials say.
The pedestrian — discovered by Virginia State Law enforcement as 79-calendar year-previous Joan F. Whitt of Nathalie — was not sporting any reflective clothes at the time of the crash and died at the scene.
In the meantime, the 28-12 months-old Toyota driver from Nathalie was putting on a seatbelt and was not injured in the crash.
Law enforcement say charges will not be placed.
